Homes & Garden/Wool Classics design a rug competition
7th March 2009
In the November 2008 edition of Homes and Gardens, Wool Classics promoted a rug design competition for their readers. The criterion for entrants was to design a rug of 2.00m wide x 3.00m long, using a combination of Wool and Silk fibres. No specific design or colour brief was provided, allowing the readers infinite possibilities.
Seventy five varied and inspirational designs were submitted and the judging panel of Deborah Barker, Editor of Homes and Gardens, Hugh Jarvis, General Manager of Wool Classics and Rita Bancroft Marketing Communications and Services Manager of Brintons Limited commented on the exceptional quality of the entries.
With such a high standard, the winning entry, Purpura Arbor designed by Eimas Karenga was selected by the judges after considerable deliberation. Eimas will receive a 2.00m x 3.00m Wool/Silk rug, hand knotted in the winning design and the six runners up, whose designs were highly commended will each receive a “James” spot cleaning kit.
Homes and Gardens have kindly agreed to feature the winning and highly commended designs within one of their issues during the autumn of 2009.
Our special thanks go to all those who submitted entries to the competition and to Homes and Gardens for their support of the project.
